Why Ariadne's Garden?
Because this place has a story of its own.
Ariadne Koumari was a philosopher and translator who taught students from all over the world through the Socratic way — asking questions rather than handing out answers. In 1980, her students built this place and planted all trees for her teaching and healing work, long before “retreat centre” was even a thing in Greece. Inspired by ancient Egyptian temple architecture and cathedral acoustics of the era of Nortre Damme, it constitutes a foundation for the spiritual heritage of humanity.
On top of that lies they mythic symbolism of Ariadne: Not so much the one wandering through the labyrinth, but the one who has finally found her way home. Ariadne means “the most pure” — the pure part of the soul, grounded in the earth, embodied, and given a home. Here, the myth becomes a place: the vision is no longer somewhere above, but lived here, on the ground.

Twenty years ago, I stayed here for one night.
Twenty years later, after a pilgrimage to the sacred places of Gaia, I found myself in Delphi for five months — and suddenly remembered that mysterious night. So I went looking for the place. Against all odds, I found it… empty and open. It somehow felt like finding an orphan who had been waiting to be adopted. So I did.
I came here to bring its energy back to life — and return this beautiful place to what it was always meant to be: in service of the human soul.
